Sukkur Municipal Corporation approves budget of over Rs. 13.95 billion for Fiscal Year 2026-27

SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jun, 2026) Sukkur Municipal Corporation has approved the budget for fiscal year 2026-27 amounting to Rs. 13,951,257,004 by majority vote.

The budget session was chaired by Mayor Sukkur Barrister Arsalan islam Shaikh, while Deputy Mayor Dr. Arshad Mughal, Commissioner Sukkur Municipal Corporation Pir Illahi Bux, Chairmen of various Union Committees, Councillors and concerned officers attended the meeting here on Saturday.

While presenting the budget, Mayor Sukkur said that the budget for FY 2026-27 has been prepared with an expected surplus of Rs. 128,585,2460, while the estimated total expenditure is Rs. 12,665,404,544.

He said that keeping in view the improvement of urban infrastructure and provision of basic facilities, Rs. 540 million has been allocated for Repair & Maintenance, while Rs. 2,221,290,800 will be spent on ongoing development projects.

Mayor Sukkur said that development funds have been provided to all Union Committees of the city to ensure effective implementation of public welfare projects in every area.

He further said that new development projects will also be launched soon in the city, which will provide citizens with better municipal facilities.

Addressing the session, he said that no special grant has been provided to Sukkur city by the Sindh Government, however, by utilizing available resources, priority is being given to improvement of civic amenities, sanitation, drainage, road repairs and provision of other municipal services.

During the session, various elected representatives presented budget proposals, public welfare projects and recommendations regarding development works in their respective areas. After detailed deliberation and discussion, the budget of Sukkur Municipal Corporation for FY 2026-27 was approved by majority vote.
