BAHAWALPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Mar, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza has stated that providing the maximum relief to
citizens during the holy month of Ramzan remains the top priority of the district administration.
He said that all available resources are being utilized to ensure effective price control operations,
transparent distribution of ration assistance, efficient monitoring of subsidized markets, and proper
arrangements for Ramzan Dastarkhwan facilities to support deserving individuals.
The deputy commissioner highlighted that the district administration has taken strong measures to control inflation during Ramzan. As part of the price control campaign, fines exceeding Rs3.2 million were imposed on profiteers. A total of 42 price control magistrates conducted 35,593 inspections across the district. During these operations, 2,343 violators were fined, four cases were registered, 45 shops were sealed, and 206 individuals were arrested for overcharging and violating official price lists.
He further stated that the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) also carried out effective enforcement actions in the district. Under these operations, 8,797 inspections were conducted, 667 challans were issued, and fines amounting to Rs2,442,500 were imposed.
Additionally, four shops were sealed and four individuals were arrested.
Syed Hassan Raza added that under his supervision, the “Nigehban Ramzan” program is being implemented vigorously, including the distribution of ration cards and establishment of Ramzan Dastarkhwan facilities across the district. So far, a total of 156,661 ration cards have been distributed. He noted that the highest distribution rates were recorded in Tehsil Khairpur Tamewali at 99.1 percent and in Hasilpur at 98.5 percent. Under the “Nigehban Ramzan Dastarkhwan” initiative, 12 food distribution points have been established across the district, where a total of 57,699 individuals have already been served meals.
According to district data, 14,963 people benefited from the program in Ahmadpur East, 14,705 in Bahawalpur City, 7,125 in Bahawalpur Saddar, 6,140 in Hasilpur, 4,366 in Khairpur Tamewali, and 10,400 in Yazman. The Deputy Commissioner added that thousands of people are being provided quality meals daily at key locations including the bus stand, Civil Hospital, Yazman, and Ahmadpur East centers, ensuring that deserving individuals receive timely assistance during the holy month.
