Three held involved in hawal-hundi

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore Zone arrested three suspects involved in hawala-hundi and illegal Currency exchange, during multiple operations in the provincial capital.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrested suspects were identified as Imran Ali, Asadullah and Bilal Ahmad.

The operations were conducted by the Commercial Banking Circle and Corporate Crime Circle Lahore, which carried out raids in different areas of Lahore and apprehended the accused.

During the raids, the FIA recovered 22 million Iranian rials, Rs475,000 in cash, prize bonds worth millions, three kilograms and one tola of silver, and 10 tolas of gold from suspect Imran Ali.

Meanwhile, Rs217,000 in cash was recovered from Asadullah and Bilal Ahmad.

The spokesperson said that Asadullah was found to be an Afghan national.

Mobile phones and other evidence related to hawala and illegal currency exchange were also seized from the accused. Initial examination of the mobile phones revealed messages and records related to cryptocurrency transactions.

The suspects have been taken into custody and further investigation is underway, the spokesperson added.
