RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Apr, 2026) The Christian community in Rawalpindi observed Good Friday with religious devotion, holding special prayers and ceremonies in churches across the city.

Large numbers of worshippers attended services where prayers were offered for peace, security and prosperity of the country. Religious leaders highlighted the significance of the day, urging believers to reflect on values of sacrifice, patience, compassion and forgiveness.

Meanwhile, strict security arrangements were put in place across the city to ensure peaceful observance of the occasion. On the directives of City Police Officer Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani, security at churches remained on high alert.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Malik Tariq Mehboob supervised field arrangements along with divisional SPs and SDPOs.

Over 2,100 police personnel were deployed, while more than 100 traffic officers ensured smooth flow of traffic around churches and procession routes. Elite Force, Dolphin Force and police mobile units carried out effective patrolling in surrounding areas.

Walk-through gates were installed at entry points and worshippers were allowed entry after thorough checking. CCTV cameras were used for monitoring, while parking areas were shifted away from worship sites. Rescue teams and Bomb Disposal Squad remained on alert.

Officials said all religious activities concluded peacefully under comprehensive security arrangements, reflecting interfaith harmony and commitment to protection of minority communities.
