MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Apr, 2026) Various parts of AJK, including the lake district of Mirpur, after the region was lashed with heavy rainfall coupled with a speedy thunderstorm for the 5th consecutive day Tuesday.

The lakeside city received the much-predicted heavy downpour that caused the collapse of several kacha boundary walls in certain parts of the district besides other parts of AJK, including higher reaches of Neelam Valley.

The heavy rainfall played havoc in various areas, including the Mirpur district, causing partial loss to the material—especially in the New City and various adjoining slums in various parts of this district.

Official sources told APP here that trees were uprooted besides the land sliding and erosion of filled lands in certain residential sectors.

The power supply was also interrupted time and again in various parts of the city during the whole of the rainfall hours.

Heavy rains are likely to continue till April 10, according to the forecast predicted by the Met Department.
