Traffic plan issued for Ashura procession

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Jun, 2026) City Traffic Police (CTP) have issued a comprehensive traffic plan for 10th Muharram-ul-Haram and announced complete closure of major roads and intersections along the Ashura procession route to ensure smooth movement of mourners and maintain public safety.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Nasir Javed Rana said that the area from Chiniot Bazaar Chowk to Chenab Chowk would remain completely closed to traffic on 10th Muharram.

He said that traffic would also remain suspended from Jhang Bazaar entry point to Kothi Tahir Shah, from Chiniot Bazaar Chowk to Gumti Chowk and from Gumti Chowk to Karkhana Bazaar entry point.

He said that the road stretch from Saleemi Chowk to Jhal Chowk would remain closed during the procession.

Similarly, traffic movement would not be allowed from GTS Chowk to District Council Chowk and from District Council Chowk to Kachehri Bazaar Chowk, he added.

He said that Eidgah Chowk to Kotwali Chowk and Nishat Cinema Chowk to Narwala Road would also remain closed for all kinds of traffic during the Ashura procession.

He said that all the notified areas would remain completely closed for traffic on 10th Muharram. The citizens should avoid the procession route and cooperate with traffic wardens to prevent congestion, he added.

He said that motorists could use Rajbah Road as an alternative route while another diversion route would be available through Chenab Chowk from Jhang Road to Jail Road.

He said that Liaquat Road had been designated for parking. The vehicles could also be parked on both sides of the road from Kothi Tahir Shah Chowk to Dairy Farm Mor and from Kothi Tahir Shah Chowk to Gulberg Road, he added.

He urged the people to plan their travel in advance and use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience. For traffic guidance or assistance, the citizens could contact the traffic police helpline 1915, he added.
