Transport fully operational in Rawalpindi, no restrictions on movement: DC Hassan Cheema

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema on Friday refuted social media reports about suspension of transport services as baseless, clarifying that all private, public and freight transport in Rawalpindi district was fully operational and there were no restrictions on movement.

In a statement, he said normal life in Rawalpindi city and its surrounding areas continued without disruption, with public transport plying on all routes while inter-district passenger vehicles and goods transport were also operating smoothly.

The DC assured citizens that the district administration remained fully vigilant and all relevant departments were on alert to respond to any emergency situation if required. He urged the public not to pay heed to unverified and misleading information circulating on social media and advised them to rely only on authentic official sources to avoid confusion or unnecessary concern. Cheema added that the district administration was continuously monitoring the situation and any new development regarding transport or movement would be communicated to the public promptly.
