Tribesmen stage protest demo against poor law and order situation in Bara Khyber

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th May, 2026) A protest demonstration was held here on Tuesday afternoon under the banner of the Bara political alliance against the law and order situation in Bara tehsil of Khyber tribal district.

The protestors blocked Ring Road for several hours at Pestakhara Chowk and demanded action against outlaws. The protesters chanted slogans against the KP Govt following recent blasts and attacks on police in southern districts. Khyber is the native district of CM Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The demonstrators attempted to march forward while protesting the deteriorating security conditions, upon which the police used tear gas to disperse them.

To stop the protesters, the police also blocked the road at Pushtakhara, disrupting the flow of traffic and causing difficulties for citizens.

Strict security arrangements were made during the protest, and additional police personnel were deployed to control the situation.

Reacting strongly to the tear gas shelling on the protesters, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi took immediate notice of the incident and ordered an immediate inquiry.

He said that peaceful protest is a fundamental right in democratic societies and any restriction on it is unacceptable. He further said that action would be taken against the responsible officials in accordance with the law.
