While speaking to a local media channel, renowned public health expert Dr Saeed Khan urged both the public and medical staff to strictly follow precautionary measures, immediately report to the nearest hospital if symptoms appear and exercise special care when handling newborns, who are considered particularly vulnerable.
He noted that hospitals in Karachi and Sukkur are witnessing an alarming increase in suspected and confirmed Mpox cases, putting additional pressure on healthcare facilities.
According to him, early detection and timely reporting are critical to preventing further spread, as delayed treatment can worsen the condition and increase the risk of transmission within communities.

He emphasized that anyone experiencing these symptoms should avoid close contact with others and seek immediate medical attention to ensure proper diagnosis and care.
Highlighting treatment and prevention, he said that while most cases can be managed with supportive care, including pain relief, hydration, and isolation, strict hygiene practices play a vital role in controlling the outbreak.
He further stressed that awareness, early reporting and adherence to medical guidelines are essential to effectively contain the spread of the disease.
