PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Jun, 2026) A wanted criminal was killed in an exchange of fire with police in Sultan Abad area of Mardan, while his accomplice managed to escape, police said on Sunday.
According to a police spokesperson, City and Hoti police jointly conducted an operation to arrest the suspect, identified as Shah Fahad. During the operation, the suspect opened fire on the police party in an attempt to evade arrest, prompting police to retaliate. As a result, Shah Fahad was killed on the spot.
Police stated that the deceased was wanted in several criminal cases, including attempted murder, theft and other serious offenses.

Police further said that Shah Fahad was involved in crimes such as theft, robbery, drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons and was considered a source of fear and insecurity in the area.
During the encounter, one of his accomplices escaped from the scene. Police have launched search operations and raids in different areas to apprehend the fugitive.
A pistol was recovered from the scene, while the body of the deceased was shifted to a hospital for legal formalities.
