WASA clears rainwater within hours after heavy downpour

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Apr, 2026) Managing Director (MD) Water & Sanitation Agency (WASA) Saqib Raza ensured prompt drainage of rainwater following heavy rainfall of up to 109 millimeters in the city and restored normal traffic flow within a few hours.

WASA spokesman said here on Saturday that the MD WASA along with other officers conducted emergency visits to various roads to review the drainage situation and appreciated the efforts of operations staff for their timely response and effective measures.

He said that although rainfall of up to 109 mm was recorded in the city, yet WASA was fully prepared to tackle the situation. In view of the weather forecast, all field staff had already been deployed at their duty points and machinery was kept fully operational to respond promptly, he added.

The MD WASA said that rainwater was drained from major roads including Samundri Road, Sargodha Road, Sheikhupura Road, Satiana Road, Jhang Road, Iqbal Stadium, Madina Town, Canal Road, Bilal Road and Samanabad within just four hours while all other ponding points were also completely cleared.

He said that newly constructed carpeted roads in the city also played a supportive role in smooth drainage of rainwater.

Provision of quality drainage services to citizens is top priority of WASA and no compromise would be made on service delivery in this regard, he added.
