“I have been seeing a lot of debate on social media about Karachi and Lahore. Swords have come out, axes have come out, and people are fighting with each other,” he joked.

The former fast bowler said he spent 42 years living in Lahore, where he was born, and has now been residing in Karachi for the past 14 years.

Akram acknowledged that Lahore has several famous spots known for dishes such as Nihari and Paya, but noted that Karachi’s multicultural environment gives it a wider culinary variety.

“In Karachi, people from different communities live together, so you can find a mix of cuisines and a greater range of food options at restaurants,” he said.

Commenting on Lahore’s food scene, Akram humorously remarked that he noticed “too many spices and cream” in dishes served around the famous food street near Badshahi Mosque.

Concluding the debate, the former captain said, “Karachi has more variety, while Lahore has great food but comparatively less variety.”

Akram ended his remarks on a lighter note, joking that people would now “come after him with shoes” for his opinion.
