WB praises progress under NHSP, assures continued cooperation for Pakistan’s health sector

Federal Minister for National Health Services and Regulations Syed Mustafa Kamal met representatives of the World Bank on the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva to discuss Pakistan’s health sector and ongoing reforms

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Federal Minister for National Health Services and Regulations Syed Mustafa Kamal met representatives of the World Bank on the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly in Geneva to discuss Pakistan’s health sector and ongoing reforms.

According to the Ministry of Health on Thursday, the minister briefed the delegation on various initiatives and reforms aimed at improving healthcare services in the country, including efforts to promote local vaccine production, strengthen primary healthcare infrastructure and other health sector initiatives.

The World Bank representatives appreciated the positive progress in Pakistan’s health sector, especially the National Health Support Program (NHSP), and expressed support for the government’s health policies and future plans.

They also praised Pakistan’s local vaccine production efforts and showed willingness to support vaccine manufacturing in the country.

The meeting also discussed cooperation in strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure promoting telemedicine to improve access to medical services in remote areas.

Mustafa Kamal appreciated the World Bank’s support and said the government would continue working with international organizations to further improve healthcare facilities in Pakistan.
