FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2026) Rwanda’s High Commissioner Harerimana Fatou underscored the pivotal role of women’s economic empowerment in socioeconomic development and called for enhanced trade and business collaboration between Pakistan and Rwanda.
She was addressing a meeting during her visit to Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FWCCI).
She said that empowering women economically was essential for sustainable growth and prosperity, adding that both countries needed to explore new avenues for bilateral trade, economic cooperation and women-led entrepreneurship.
She said that gender equality is 65% over there and Rawanda is global leader as 53% representing women in Parliament.
She said that in Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz is very much working for women empowerment.
She said that Rwanda Vision 2050 emphasizes on promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment, peace and security as indispensable drivers for realizing long-term goals outlined in Rwanda’s development agenda.
Founder President FWCCI Rubina Amjad highlighted the chamber’s ongoing efforts to empower women through capacity building and business support initiatives.
She emphasized that strengthening international linkages was need of the hour to open new opportunities for women entrepreneurs.
She said that Pakistan and Rwanda have stronger political, economic and trade ties.
Both the countries are strengthening economic cooperation, focusing on trade, agriculture and investment through direct supply chains and high-level engagements, she added.
She said that Pakistan has great desire to further cement its friendly ties with Rwanda and it is matter of great satisfaction that both the countries were cooperating with each other at regional and international forums.
She said that there are vast opportunities between FWCCI and High Commission of Rwanda for joint initiatives.
President FWCCI Shahida Aftab said that such high-level visits played a key role in promoting stronger relations between the two countries.
She expressed optimism that exchange of trade delegations and organization of joint business forums would further enhance cooperation in the future.
Later, a commemorative shield was presented to the distinguished guest.
Ms. Mammona Imran Vice President FWCCI, Mrs. Tehmina Pasha former President FWCCI and others were also present on the occasion.
