Working class plays basic role in country's development, prosperity

DG KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) A ceremony was held in Dera Ghazi Khan to mark International Labour Day, jointly organized by the Punjab Council of the Arts (DG Khan Division) and the Vocational Training Institute.

The event witnessed a large number of teachers, students, and members of civil society.

Director Arts Council Maqbool Ahmad Rana, Principal Vocational Training Institute Muhammad Azhar Qasmani, Deputy Director Arts Council Naeemullah Tufail, President Women Chamber of Commerce Farah Bashir along with notables from various fields participated.

Addressing the gathering, speakers paid tribute to the contributions of the working class, stating that labourers play a vital role in the country’s development and prosperity.

Protection of workers’ rights, fair wages and creating a safe and dignified working environment was dire need of the hour.

The speakers also underlined the significance of technical education and skill development, noting that equipping youth with vocational skills could help reduce unemployment and sustainable economic growth.

The ceremony featured speeches, national songs, and tableaus presented by students to commemorate Labour Day.
