SIALKOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) The World Press Freedom Day was observed in Sialkot with great enthusiasm and a renewed commitment
to responsible and ethical journalism in collaboration with Ghuinke Lions Club and Sialkot Allama Iqbal
Lions Club.
A prominent ceremony was organized at the premises of Pakistan sports Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PSGMEA), where journalists, exporters, and members of the business community gathered to acknowledge the vital role of media in society.
The event was attended by senior journalists, representatives of trade bodies, and officials from various sectors.
Addressing the ceremony, the chief guest and former President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Tahir Kapoor highlighted the strong relationship between media and the business community, stating that responsible journalism helps promote Pakistan’s positive image globally.
He appreciated the role of local journalists in highlighting industrial achievements and issues faced by exporters.
Senior journalists, Junaid Aftab, Imran Rehman, Muhammad Awais, Ashfaq Niaz, Khawaja Rehan, Ahmed Junaid emphasized that journalism is a noble profession that requires dedication, courage, and adherence to ethical standards.
Later, the participants offered collective prayers for the souls of the deceased journalists including Khawaja Naseem, Hamid Ali Khan, Abid Mehdi, Muhammed Majeed Butt, Ch Rasheed, Bashir Butt and others, acknowledging their dedication, professionalism, and contributions to highlighting public issues.
