SUKKUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jun, 2026) Youm-e-Ashura, the 10th of Muharram-ul-Haram, was observed across Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and other districts of northern Sindh on Friday with deep religious solemnity and strict security arrangements.
Tazia, Alam and Zuljinah processions were taken out in all major cities and towns. The mourners followed traditional routes before culminating at central Imambargahs.
In Sukkur, the main Zuljinah, Alam and Tazia procession was taken out from Markazi Imambargah Gharib Abad on Shikarpur Road. Processions from various Imambargahs joined the central route and converged at Clock Tower after Zohr prayers.
Religious scholars addressed the mourners, highlighting the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions for the cause of justice and righteousness. The main procession later culminated peacefully at Markazi Imambargah. Multiple 10th Muharram processions were also reported from different towns of Sukkur district.
In Khairpur, the main procession was taken out from Imambargah Hyderi. Over 3,000 police personnel were deployed for security, with snipers positioned on rooftops along the route. The entire procession was monitored live via CCTV cameras from a control room set up at the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Office, Khairpur.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>In Shikarpur, around 40 Alam and Zuljinah processions were taken out from different Imambargahs across the district. The main procession, which started from Haathi Dar and Imambargah Hussaini, passed through its traditional routes and concluded peacefully at the same locations.
In Ghotki, processions of 10th Muharram were taken out from various Imambargahs in Ghotki and concluded without incident. In Jacobabad, the main procession was taken out from Imambargah Hussainia Saddar under strict law and order measures.
Youm-e-Ashura was also observed with reverence in Rohri, Babarloi, Faiz Ganj, Thull, Saleh Pat, Pano Aqil and Kot Diji talukas.
Contingents of police and Rangers were deployed at sensitive points, with patrolling carried out throughout the day to prevent any untoward incident. Sabeels and first-aid camps were set up along procession routes by scouts, welfare organizations and various groups. Medical camps were also established to provide immediate care to mourners.
Radio Pakistan Khairpur and local FM channels aired special programs to highlight the significance of Karbala and the sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions.
