Young man shot dead, mother seriously injured in firing incident in Hassanabdal

HASSANABDAL, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Mar, 2026) A young man was shot dead while his mother sustained serious injuries in a firing incident by unidentified assailants near Mohalla Sabira Abad in Hassanabdal on Monday, police and local sources said.

According to initial reports, the deceased, identified as Imran, was travelling on a motorcycle with his mother when armed attackers, who were reportedly lying in wait, opened indiscriminate fire on them. As a result, Imran died on the spot while his mother suffered bullet wounds to her leg and back.

The injured woman was shifted to a nearby hospital where her condition was reported to be critical.

Police reached the scene soon after the incident, collected evidence and shifted the body to a hospital for legal formalities.

The attackers managed to escape from the spot after the firing.

Police officials said that a search operation had been launched in the area and investigations were under way to trace and arrest the suspects.
