2,132 challans issued, 818 vehicles impounded

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) City Traffic Police Lahore issued 2,132 challans and impounded 818 vehicles during a special enforcement campaign aimed at improving road discipline and ensuring public safety, officials said on Tuesday.

The crackdown was launched on model roads across the city on the directions of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi.

According to details, strict action was taken against various traffic violations in different areas of the city. As many as 690 motorcyclists were fined for lane line violations, while 185 were booked for one-way violations and 24 for signal violations.

Additionally, 630 motorcyclists were challaned for riding without helmets, while challans were also issued to six motorcyclists causing traffic obstruction and nine underage drivers.

The CTO Lahore directed further enhancement of enforcement and sought hourly performance reports from officers. He also instructed divisional SPs and circle officers to personally monitor field operations.

He ordered that traffic violations be monitored through Safe City cameras and body cameras, emphasizing that enforcement should be carried out without discrimination while maintaining courteous behavior.

The CTO urged citizens to cooperate with traffic police and adhere to traffic laws to demonstrate responsible conduct.
