ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) The district administration in the Federal capital has stepped up its campaign against professional begging, with 5 individuals shifted to Aabpara Police Station during a recent operation led by Assistant Commissioner City Maheen Hassan.
According to the administration, teams are carrying out operations in different areas to identify and take action against people involved in organized begging. During the latest action, five beggars were taken into custody and moved to the police station for further legal proceedings.
Officials said the campaign is part of ongoing efforts to control professional begging, which has been reported in several sectors and public places. Authorities believe that many individuals involved in begging operate in groups and move between locations to avoid action.
Assistant Commissioner City Maheen Hassan supervised the operation and directed teams to continue checks in busy areas.
The administration has also coordinated with police to ensure that detained individuals are processed under the law.
Residents have been asked not to give money to beggars, as officials said this practice encourages organized begging. Instead, citizens are encouraged to inform the administration or police if they notice such activities in their areas.
The district administration said that public support is important for the success of the campaign. Officials stated that cooperation from citizens can help identify repeat offenders and ensure consistent action.
Authorities added that the campaign will continue in phases, covering more areas of the capital in the coming days. The administration aims to reduce the presence of professional beggars through regular monitoring and enforcement.
Officials said that joint efforts between the administration and the public can help address the issue and maintain order in public spaces.
