Abbottabad DC directs transporters to follow official fare rates, warns against overcharging

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad, Sarmad Saleem Akram, held a meeting with a delegation of transporters from Galiyat, during which they apprised him of their issues and challenges.

The Deputy Commissioner assured timely resolution of their genuine concerns while emphasizing strict enforcement of official fare rates.

During the meeting, the transporters highlighted their operational difficulties and requested administrative support. The Deputy Commissioner listened to their grievances in detail and issued on-the-spot instructions to the concerned authorities for their resolution.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarmad Saleem Akram stated that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is providing subsidies to transporters to facilitate the public, and therefore all transporters must strictly adhere to the officially notified fare structure.

He made it clear that ensuring public relief is the top priority of the district administration, and any form of overcharging or unfair profit-making will not be tolerated.

He further said that the purpose of government subsidies is to reduce the burden on the general public, and transporters must fulfill their responsibility by strictly implementing the approved fare list.

The Deputy Commissioner warned that strict legal action will be taken against those found charging above the prescribed fares or violating rules, with no leniency in such cases.

At the same time, he assured the transporters that the administration is committed to addressing their genuine issues and will extend full cooperation, but no compromise will be made on public interest.
