Accused charged in murder case arrested: Police

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) City police on Wednesday arrested an accused, who was charged in murder case and recovered a weapon used in the offence.

Matni police station carried out a successful operation against suspect involved in the murder of a citizen and arrested him within 24 hours. A weapon used in the offence was also recovered.

According to the spokesperson for Capital City Police Peshawar, under the instructions of SP saddar division Muhammad Arshad Khan, and under the supervision of DSP Budh Bair Circle Wajid Shah, SHO Matni Police Station Ejazullah carried out a successful operation.

The police tracked down and arrested the suspect, Zardad son of Gharib Gul, within 24 hours for his alleged involvement in the murder of a citizen in the suburban area of Matni Adezai.

The arrested suspect had, the previous day in the Adezai area, opened fire over a dispute involving women and killed the deceased, Saraf Khan son of Hanif Khan, after which he fled the scene.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Matni Police shifted the body to the hospital for post-mortem and registered a case against the suspect Zardad on the complaint of the deceased’s son, Yousaf Khan, and began further investigation.

SP Saddar division Muhammad Arshad Khan took strict notice of the incident and formed a special team for the arrest of the suspect. Under the supervision of DSP Budh Bair Circle Wajid Shah, SHO Matni Ejazullah traced and arrested the suspect within 24 hours.

A pistol used in the murder was also recovered from his possession. During initial interrogation, the suspect described the incident as a result of a dispute involving women. Further investigation is ongoing.
