ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2026) The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter has praised the firm and principled position articulated by Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi on occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, describing it as a powerful reflection of the longstanding aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a press statement released by APHC-AJK chapter information Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Butt said the forum led by Convenor Ghulam Muhammad Safi said it is an undeniable fact that occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have never been a part of India, but rather it is an internationally recognized disputed territory, the final settlement of which is yet to be found.

It said the unilateral actions, administrative changes and political engineering by India are not only a blatant violation of international laws but are also a failed attempt to distort the disputed status of the territory.

It stressed the United Nations Security Council resolutions provide a clear and workable framework for the resolution of the dispute, under which the Kashmiri people were to be given their fundamental and innate right to self-determination.

However, despite the passage of decades, the non-implementation of these resolutions is a big question mark for the conscience of the international community, it lamented.

The APHC-AJK chapter said now is the time for the United Nations to effectively discharge its responsibilities and ensure the implementation of its own adopted resolutions and appealed to the world powers and human rights organizations to take serious notice of the grave human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and take practical steps to ensure that the Kashmiri people get their legitimate rights.

It further said the Kashmiri people have been making unprecedented sacrifices for their freedom and right to self-determination for the past seven decades, and now further depriving them of their fundamental right is against the requirements of justice.

The APHC-AJK reiterated that the forum, as the representative organization of the Kashmiri people, will continue its struggle until it achieves the right to self-determination.

It said a just and lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute is not only indispensable for the fulfillment of the aspirations of the Kashmiri people but is also fundamental for lasting peace, stability and development in the region.

It hoped that the international community would play a serious and effective role in resolving the long-pending dispute so that the path to peace in South Asia could be paved.
