ATC awards 53-year imprisonment to five convicts in Taxila case

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday awarded a total of 53 years imprisonment along with Rs12,00,000.0 fine to five convicts in a case of murder and attempted murder registered at Taxila police station

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Mar, 2026) An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday awarded a total of 53 years imprisonment along with Rs12,00,000.0 fine to five convicts in a case of murder and attempted murder registered at Taxila police station.

According to court details, the accused were found guilty under multiple sections of the PPC, including sections 302 and 324. The court also directed the convicts to pay compensation to the injured, including Rs5.5 lakh as daman and one-third of the compensation amount.

The main accused in the case is still at large and could not be arrested so far.

As per prosecution, the case was registered on April 17, 2023 on the complaint of M Fayyaz, who alleged that the accused attacked his family members with firearms and sticks after they returned from a mosque following Maghrib prayers.

During the attack, several persons including Ejaz and Niaz sustained bullet injuries, while others were injured with rods and sticks.

After completion of the trial, the court sentenced M. Amjad to 28 years imprisonment along with Rs650,000.0 fine. Ghulam Mustafa and Ishtiaq were awarded 6 years imprisonment each, with Rs150,000.0 fine, while Qurban was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment along with Rs.150,000.0 fine and additional compensation.

Another accused, Jibran, was awarded five years imprisonment along with Rs.150,000.0 fine.The court also ordered the convicts to pay compensation amounts to the injured persons under different heads.
