According to police sources, the breakthrough in the cattle theft case came after a complaint was filed on January 20, 2026, by Muhammad Akhlaq, a resident of Mithial in Jand tehsil, reporting the overnight theft of four animals from his enclosure. Acting swiftly, Basal Police registered a case and launched a meticulous investigation, employing modern techniques to trace the culprits. The operation culminated in the arrest of four suspects — Qaim Ali, Muslim Ali, Asin Ali, and Rafiq Hussain — all hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Rs300,000 recovered as compensation for the stolen livestock.
In a separate action, Hassan Abdal Saddar Police responded to a tip-off regarding an active gambling ring operating in an open field near Burhan Link Road. A prompt raid led to the arrest of six suspects who attempted to flee and conceal the gambling cash upon spotting the police. Authorities identified the arrested individuals as Abdul Waheed, Saeed Khan, Iftikhar Ahmad, Sadaqat Ali, Ameer Afsar, and Aamir, all residents of Burhan. Police recovered Rs70,000 staked on gambling at the scene.
