Bogie derailment of Shalimar Express sparks panic, no injuries reported

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) A potential disaster was narrowly avoided on Friday when the Shalimar Express, traveling from Karachi to Lahore, derailed near Sheikhupura as a middle bogie went off the tracks, but fortunately all passengers remained safe and no casualties were reported.

Railway officials said teams from the engineering department rushed to the scene immediately and relief operations are currently underway, local news channel reported.

They added that train services have been suspended following the accident to ensure safety and facilitate recovery work.

According to officials, the incident has affected nearly 6 kilometers of railway track, causing significant disruption to operations.
