ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Federal Minister for board of Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, has received a letter of appreciation from Lord Marland of Odstock, Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), acknowledging his impactful participation in the Commonwealth Trade and Investment Summit held in London.
In his letter, Lord Marland commended the Minister’s valuable contribution to the Summit discussions and appreciated his engagement with global stakeholders, noting that his participation added significant depth and reinforced Pakistan’s growing role within the Commonwealth business community, said a release issued here on Thursday.
The Chairman of CWEIC also extended a formal invitation to the Government of Pakistan to become a Strategic Partner of the Council.
This partnership would provide Pakistan with enhanced access to CWEIC’s extensive Commonwealth-wide network, facilitating trade, investment, and business collaboration across diverse and fast-growing markets.
The letter highlighted Pakistan’s strong economic fundamentals, including its large domestic market, globally connected diaspora, entrepreneurial ecosystem, and competitive strengths in key sectors such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, agribusiness, technology, financial services, and manufacturing.
It underscored the immense potential for Pakistan to diversify its economic partnerships, particularly with emerging markets across Commonwealth Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Pacific.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>CWEIC further expressed keen interest in establishing a Hub Office in Pakistan, aimed at promoting inward investment, supporting Pakistani businesses in accessing new export markets, and strengthening institutional linkages.
Additionally, the possibility of hosting a Commonwealth Investment Summit in Pakistan was proposed as a strategic initiative to showcase the country’s investment potential and convene global investors and business leaders.
Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh welcomed the recognition and expressed appreciation for CWEIC’s interest in deepening engagement with Pakistan.
He reiterated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the Government of Pakistan is actively pursuing an investment-friendly policy framework and strengthening international economic partnerships.
The Board of Investment reaffirmed its resolve to work closely with CWEIC and other global partners to facilitate investment, promote Pakistan’s priority sectors, and position the country as a competitive and reliable destination for international business.
The Board of Investment remains committed to enabling strategic partnerships, strengthening investor confidence, and unlocking new avenues for sustainable economic growth in Pakistan.
