Commissioner chairs meeting to ensure implementation of transport fare reduction

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Peshawar Division, who is also Chairman Regional Transport Authority, Riaz Khan Mehsud, here on Thursday, chaired a video link meeting about reduction of transport fares across the division.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of all five districts of Peshawar Division, including Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Mohmand Tribal District and Khyber, besides Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority.

The meeting held detailed discussions on the relief measures provided by the provincial government to the transport sector. In line with government directives, schedule tax and adda tax have been waived for one month across all districts.

Transporters have been strictly directed to transfer the benefits of this relief directly to passengers through reduced fares.

The commissioner directed effective monitoring of fares in all districts and deployment of three assistant commissioners in each district at transport terminals and major highways to conduct fare checks. Deputy Commissioners were also instructed to personally oversee field operations to prevent overcharging.

Furthermore, transporters were strictly instructed to prominently display official fare lists at the front of their vehicles for the awareness of people about approved fares.

The commissioner emphasized that public complaints will be addressed promptly and that indiscriminate action would be taken against those involved in overcharging.
