Commissioner Karachi review arrangements for disposal of offal of sacrificial animals

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for collecting and disposing of offal of sacrificial animals at landfill sites

during the upcoming Eid al-Adha.

The meeting was attended, among others, by the Deputy Commissioner South Javed Nabi Khoso, including other Deputy Commissioners via video link, Managing Director Solid Waste Management board Tariq Nizamani, Assistant Commissioner Headquarters Rabia Syed, senior officers of all Town Municipal Administrations and Municipal Commissioners, officers from Police, Rangers, Health Department, and others.

The MD Solid Waste Management Board informed the meeting that the Board has prepared a contingency plan for collecting and disposing of sacrificial animal offal.

He briefed the meeting on the details of the contingency plan, stating that 97 collection points will be established in all districts and the points have been identified.

It was decided that the Solid Waste Management Board, KMC, Town Administrations, and Cantonment Boards will make coordinated efforts for collecting and disposing of offal with the support of Solid Waste Management Board.

It was decided that the Solid Waste Management Board will finalize arrangements in consultation with Town Administrations and present a coordinated contingency plan in a meeting to be held next week under the chairmanship of Commissioner Karachi, detailing the planning and arrangements for door-to-door collection of offal, transportation to collection points (GTS) with the cooperation of Town Administrations, and onward transfer to the land fill sites including Jam Chakro landfill site.

The meeting also discussed the issue of dumping of offal and garbage in the nullah /drains and decided that action will be taken against those dumping offal in drains, and Section 144 will be enforced to prevent dumping of offal in drains.

All Deputy Commissioners will supervise offal collection work, and all concerned departments will work in coordination with the Deputy Commissioners.

It was decided that Deputy Commissioners will extend all possible assistance to the Municipal Commissioners and other officers of Solid Waste Management and Town Municipal Administrations in their respective areas.

The Solid Waste Management Board and Town Municipal Administrations will include vehicle numbers and drivers’ Names and numbers in their contingency plans.

The Solid Waste Management Board's concerned officials and details of vehicles, staff, and other resources will be included in the contingency plans.
