Cop martyred, four injured in attack on polio security team in Hangu

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) A police constable was martyred and four others sustained injuries when unidentified assailants opened fire on a police team deployed for the security of polio vaccination workers in Hangu district on Monday.

According to police, the incident occurred in Tall tehsil as the police team was en route to perform duty on the first day of the nationwide anti-polio campaign being conducted from April 13 to 19.

In an official statement, Hangu police said terrorists carried out a sudden attack on the police party, resulting in the martyrdom of one constable and injuries to four others.

The injured personnel were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Police added that the security team immediately retaliated to the attack. Kohat Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Irfan Tariq stated that reports indicated the killing of two attackers in the exchange of fire, however, the militants managed to take away the bodies of their accomplices from the scene.
