Couple abducted over free-will marriage recovered within 12 hours in Layyah

MUZAFFARGARH, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Apr, 2026) A couple was recovered within 12 hours after an alleged abduction in Daera Din Panah,police said on Wednesday.

According to officials,Habib-ur-Rehman had contracted a free will marriage with Zonisha.

The bride’s father namely as Muhammad Ramzan allegedly opposed the union and was suspected of orchestrating the kidnapping.

Police said the accused,along with accomplices namely as Muhammad Ilyas,Shabir,Muhammad Nazir,Muhammad Mansoor, Mohammad Hayat,Muhammad Ismail,Razaq and an unidentified woman allegedly abducted the couple from the area.

Upon receiving the complaint,a police team was constituted under the supervision of SDPO Abdul Ghaffar.

Raids were conducted at multiple locations,leading to the safe recovery of the couple within 12 hours.

A case has been registered against the nominated suspects on the complaint of the groom’s brother.

District police authorities lauded the team’s swift action and directed that strict legal proceedings be pursued against those involved.
