SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Mar, 2026) The district administration has intensified transport fare inspections in the lead-up to Eid-ul-Fitr to ensure relief for citizens and prevent overcharging.
According to officials, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) inspected 1,700 vehicles during the current month. Action was taken against 224 vehicles found overcharging passengers, while 72 vehicles violating fare regulations were impounded.
Authorities imposed total fines amounting to Rs213,000.
As a result of the crackdown, 551 passengers were refunded a combined Rs68,900 in excess fares.
Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmed Raza Chaudhry stated that transport operations were running smoothly and fuel supplies remain sufficient. He added that strict monitoring will continue throughout the Eid period, with zero tolerance for overcharging and overloading. Ensuring public relief remains the administration’s top priority, he emphasized.
