Crackdown against transporters launched, extra fares refunded to passengers

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) The district administration has intensified efforts to curb overcharging by public transport operators, by launching a comprehensive operation in Paharpur to ensure passengers are not exploited.

Acting on the directives of Commissioner Dera Division, Dawood Khan, Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary, Shaukat Iqbal, on Thursday carried out the operation in coordination with the Tehsildar Paharpur and the Transport Officer (TO) Paharpur. During the operation, excess fares collected from passengers were immediately refunded, while vehicles found violating the officially approved fare list were taken into custody.

Strict checking was carried out at Paharpur General Bus Stand and along various routes to ensure compliance. The authorities also ordered the closure of all small, unauthorized transport stands within the city, directing that the same be shifted to the General Bus Stand.

In addition, instructions were issued to the Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Paharpur to take necessary steps to improve the condition of the General Bus Stand.

The RTA and district administration reaffirmed their commitment to enforcing the official fare list and ensuring that transporters adhere strictly to regulations for the convenience and protection of the public.
