CHINIOT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) launched a large-scale crackdown across Chiniot district on Wednesday under its Zero Tolerance Policy, intensifying action against substandard and unsafe food practices. Acting on the directives of Director General Syed Musa Raza, food safety teams inspected 372 food outlets, production units, and milk suppliers during the operation.
Authorities imposed fines totaling Rs 722,000 on four units, while another four were sealed for serious violations of food safety regulations. During the inspections, seven suppliers were heavily penalized, and more than 10 tons of adulterated milk, substandard cooking oil, and expired food items were confiscated and discarded.
According to a PFA spokesperson, tests revealed widespread adulteration in milk, including the addition of water and reduced nutritional quality.
Inspectors also found multiple hygiene violations, including insect-infested kitchens, poor ventilation, and inadequate sanitation arrangements. In several cases, dairy products and meat were stored in dirty, fungus-contaminated freezers, posing serious health risks. Additionally, food handlers failed to produce mandatory medical and training certificates.
DG PFA Syed Musa Raza emphasized that strict compliance with food safety laws is mandatory for all businesses. He stated that the authority is taking decisive steps to ensure the provision of safe and quality food, vowing zero leniency for those involved in adulteration while safeguarding public health.
