DC launches tree plantation drive

SIALKOT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar Ali inaugurated tree plantation campaign at the Marala Ravi Link Canal (Daska), organized by the Forest Department, with Assistant Commissioner Daska Saadia Jafar also in attendance.

Addressing the event, the Deputy Commissioner said that tree plantation has become an urgent need.

She emphasized that expanding forests is vital for maintaining ecological balance, reducing air pollution, and securing a sustainable future for coming generations.

She added that the district administration and the Forest Department are mobilizing all resources to ensure the campaign’s success and stressed that active citizen participation is crucial.

According to a DC office spokesperson, thousands of saplings will be planted along canals, roads, and government land during the drive, aiming to significantly increase greenery across the district.
