Extra fee withdrawn after protest of students

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) Students Forum Government College Peshawar here on Tuesday staged a protest against the extra fees imposed by Higher education Department and University of Peshawar under the head of sports charges.

Demonstrators including students of Government College Peshawar, Government Degree College Hayatabad and Superior Science College Peshawar gathered in front of provincial assembly to press demand of withdrawing extra charges.

They blocked the Sher Shah Suri road and demanded of authorities to withdraw extra charges and reduce financial burden on students.

Protesters argued that the additional fee was unjust and an additional burden on students.

They claimed that students had been given only one week to pay the charges after which the fees would increase twofold or threefold. The students also alleged that a misleading notification had been issued and that additional fees continued to be collected despite claims of fee reductions.

Meanwhile, district administration invited students and announced to withdraw extra charges after successful negotiations. Students were assured full cooperation and addressing legitimate concerns.
