WAH CANTT, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Mar, 2026) A court has convicted five individuals in a murder, attempted murder, and assault case from the limits of Taxila, police officials said on Wednesday, therefore delivering a significant verdict in the high-profile case.
According to authorities, the court handed down collective sentences totaling 56 years of imprisonment, along with fines of Rs1.25 million and compensation of Rs550,000, while additional penalties were imposed under relevant legal provisions. The main accused, Amjad, received 10 years in jail and a fine of Rs500,000 for attempted murder, along with supplementary penalties for causing injury and house trespass. Other convicts—including Muhammad Qurban, Ghulam Mustafa, Ishtiaq, and Jibran—were awarded varying jail terms, fines, and compensation under different sections of the law.
Police said the case stems from an April 2023 incident, when the accused opened fire over a sewerage dispute, resulting in one death and another person being critically injured. Moreover, the investigation revealed careful evidence gathering and witness testimonies, leading to a convincing prosecution case.
Officials credited the effective investigation and strong prosecution for securing the convictions, emphasizing that the verdict reflects the commitment of Rawalpindi Police to uphold justice and ensure public confidence in the legal system.
