PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Apr, 2026) Torrential rains under the recent weather system have caused widespread destruction in the Orakzai district the other day.
According to district administration on Wednesday, heavy downpours at the location of Mushti Mela triggered flash floods, sweeping away dozens of shops and houses. Several vehicles and motorcycles caught in the sudden flood were also damaged or washed away by the strong current of water.
The Meteorological Department has forecast that most districts of the province are likely to experience dry weather. However, areas including Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Bajaur, Swat, Buner, Malakand, Shangla and Kohistan may witness partly cloudy conditions along with rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.
Similar weather conditions are expected in Torghar, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Khyber, Mohmand, Kurram, Orakzai and Waziristan, where gusty winds and thunderstorms with rain are possible.
Over the past 24 hours, most districts in the province remained partly cloudy. Rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms was recorded at isolated locations in Peshawar, Nowshera, Mardan, Kohat, Chitral, Swat, Lower Dir, Mohmand and Kohistan. Dusty winds were also observed in the plains, with wind speeds in Peshawar reaching up to 37 km/h.

Peshawar (City: 4 mm, Airport: 1 mm), Mohmand Dam: 4 mm, Takht Bhai: 3 mm, Mir Khani, Drosh and Patan: 2 mm each
