After two years, the investigation has now been completed.

Princess Kate Middleton, who had announced her cancer diagnosis in a heartbreaking statement in 2024, suffered a massive setback just weeks later due to a security breach.

The Princess of Wales had undergone abdominal surgery at the London Clinic and reportedly stayed there for 13 days after the operation.

A criminal investigation was started, and at least one hospital worker was dismissed after trying to access her medical records illegally.

After two years, the investigation has now been completed. On Wednesday, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) confirmed the details of the incident.

It said that after a full review, there was clear evidence of “deliberate misuse of highly sensitive personal information” and an attempt to share it for money, which was a serious breach of trust.

However, the ICO also said it checked whether there were wider problems in the hospital’s system and found no issues serious enough to require regulatory action.

Princess Kate later announced in January 2025 that she was in remission. She had taken a break from royal duties while receiving treatment.

She has since returned to her royal work and even made her first solo overseas trip this year after recovering.
