Fungus-infested pickle discarded

MUZAFFARGARH, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) Thousands of kilograms of fungus-infested pickle were discarded on Alipore Road, a food authority official said.

According to the spokesman, a food authority team led by the Director Operations South Zone took action at a pickle and marmalade unit located on Alipore Road. The team found a huge quantity of pickle, along with a smaller quantity of marmalade, stored in filthy drums.

The team weighed the recovered stock and found approximately 16,400 kilograms of fungus-infested pickle along with a few kilograms of marmalade, the official said.

The stored food items were being supplied to grocery shops and major stores in the district and across the region.

The DG Food Authority said in a statement that those cheating people in the name of quality food deserved no concession. He appealed to the public to inform the food authority in a timely manner about any such issues so they could be addressed. He added that the provision of pure and healthy food was the fundamental responsibility of the food authority.
