NATHIAGALI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Mar, 2026) During the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, the scenic hill stations of Galiyat witnessed an extraordinary surge in tourist arrivals, with more than 50,000 visitors flocking to the region to enjoy its pleasant weather and natural beauty.

According to official estimates, over 12,000 vehicles entered the area during the festive period, marking a significant increase compared to last year. In contrast, approximately 35,000 to 40,000 tourists visited Galiyat during the same holidays last year, indicating a substantial rise in tourist activity this year. The sharp increase reflects the growing popularity of Galiyat as a prime holiday destination in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A large number of tourists accessed the region through the Harnow and Barian routes, both of which experienced heavy traffic flow throughout the holidays. Despite the pressure, traffic remained largely smooth due to effective planning and timely interventions by the authorities.

The district administration of Abbottabad, in collaboration with the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA), made comprehensive arrangements to facilitate tourists.

Special focus was placed on maintaining cleanliness, ensuring the availability of essential services, and providing a welcoming environment for visitors.

Foolproof security arrangements were implemented across all major tourist spots, with a visible deployment of police and support staff. Additionally, an efficient traffic management plan was executed, preventing major congestion and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of vehicles.

Officials confirmed that no major untoward incidents or public complaints were reported during the holidays, highlighting the success of administrative measures. Tourists expressed satisfaction with the facilities provided, particularly appreciating the organized traffic system and secure environment.

Despite the influx, the overall system remained smooth, reflecting improved governance and coordination among relevant departments.

Authorities have termed the surge a positive indicator for tourism growth in the region and reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing the visitor experience in the future.
