Gold prices continue downward trend in Pakistan, global markets

LAHORE: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News- April 24^th, 2026) Gold and silver prices extended their decline on Friday in both international and domestic markets in Pakistan, tracking a weakening trend in global bullion rates.

In the international market, gold prices fell by $29 per ounce, settling at $4,685. The drop in global rates directly impacted local prices in Pakistan.

According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of 24-karat gold per tola decreased by Rs2,900, reaching Rs490,862. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold fell by Rs2,486 to Rs420,835.

Silver prices also moved lower. The per tola rate dropped by Rs142 to Rs7,957, while 10 grams declined by Rs122 to Rs6,821.

In global trading, spot silver slipped 0.7% to $74.88 per ounce. Platinum fell 1.4% to $1,978.84, while palladium edged up 0.4% to $1,475.35.

The latest decline follows a continued bearish trend earlier in the week.

On Thursday, gold prices had fallen sharply by Rs5,200 per tola after an international drop of $52 per ounce, bringing global rates to $4,714 at that time.

According to APGJSA, Thursday’s local market price of gold stood at Rs493,762 per tola, while 10 grams were priced at Rs423,321 after a decline of Rs4,458.

Silver also weakened on Thursday, falling Rs225 per tola to Rs8,099, while 10 grams dropped Rs193 to Rs6,943.

On Wednesday, gold had declined by Rs1,200 per tola to Rs498,962, while silver slipped by Rs34 to Rs8,324 per tola.

Earlier on Tuesday, international gold prices fell by $10 per ounce to $4,778. In Pakistan, gold dropped by Rs1,000 per tola to Rs500,162, while silver also recorded a decline.

The market analysts attribute the ongoing volatility to fluctuations in global financial indicators, including changes in US bond yields, which continue to influence demand for safe-haven assets such as gold.
