LARKANA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) The consultant of the Regional Office of the Provincial Ombudsman Larkana Shakeel Haider, here on Thursday said that here were flaws in our society, we must live our lives according to our religion, and for that, it is essential to have knowledge of both religion and law. He emphasized that women working in government institutions should be treated with respect and dignity. They should not be harassed and their legitimate complaints must be addressed.
He expressed these views while speaking at a seminar held at Mehran Institute of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences Larkana on workplace harassment of women.He said that in the past, women used to work in factories and were not subjected to harassment. However, as time passed and men started joining these institutions, harassment against women began, and the culture gradually changed. With progress, these issues also increased.
He further stated that with changing times, people’s mindsets have also evolved. Some women leave their jobs due to harassment, while others courageously raise their voices against injustice and receive justice.
He added that a society that does not respect women cannot progress. Women working outside is not only a necessity but also important for supporting their families and contributing to development.
He explained that the purpose of harassment is to mentally disturb women, and to prove such cases, evidence is necessary.He urged people to trust government institutions, as they provide justice. Laws against harassment exist in the country, and ombudsman institutions work to address complaints and ensure justice.He further mentioned that various punishments are in place for those involved in harassment, including; stopping annual increments, suspension, blocking promotions and forced early retirement.
Earlier, Director Ikhtiar Hussain Khokhar and Principal Ms. Ghulam Kulsoom stated that no nation can achieve progress unless women are included in the process of societal development.The seminar was also attended by Syed Irshad Ali Shah, Ms. Tahira Gul Khokhar, and other officials, and it concluded with a question-and-answer session.
