Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghaddam says claims of ongoing engagement between Iran and the United States are inaccurate and not based on facts
ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 25th, 2026) Iran’s envoy to Pakistan has denied reports suggesting any direct or indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington, stating that no talks have taken place at any level.
According to Reuters, Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghaddam said claims of ongoing engagement between Iran and the United States are inaccurate and not based on facts. He also rejected remarks attributed to former US President Donald Trump regarding a potential agreement with Iran.
The ambassador added that friendly countries are working to create a favourable environment for possible future engagement between the two sides, which could help ease tensions in the region.
Separately, Iran’s Foreign Ministry reiterated that the United States is not a trustworthy party and confirmed that no negotiations are currently underway.
The development follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s statement on X that Pakistan is ready to host any potential talks. His post was later reshared by both the Iranian ambassador and Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Office spokesperson said in a statement that misleading and unverified information is being circulated regarding Pakistan’s role in regional affairs. The spokesperson emphasized that diplomatic engagement requires confidentiality and careful handling.
The spokesperson urged the media and the public to refrain from speculation and wait for official confirmation regarding any concrete developments.
