KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jun, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Nawaz Wazir on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting at the DC Office to finalize comprehensive arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram, directing all relevant departments to ensure robust security, uninterrupted civic services, and effective emergency response mechanisms for the peaceful observance of the holy month.
The meeting, attended by officials from the district administration, police, Rescue 1122, Health Department, Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), Civil Defence, and other departments, reviewed security measures, traffic management, sanitation, electricity supply, drinking water provision, medical facilities, and emergency preparedness.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed all agencies to remain on high alert and ensure foolproof arrangements for the safety and convenience of mourners. TMA was tasked with maintaining cleanliness along procession routes, improving sewerage systems, and removing encroachments, while CCTV cameras will be installed at sensitive locations to strengthen surveillance.
Rescue 1122 was directed to keep ambulance services available round-the-clock, while medical camps and first-aid points will be jointly established by Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, and volunteer organizations. The Health Department was instructed to ensure the availability of doctors, paramedics, medicines, and emergency healthcare facilities throughout Muharram.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>It was also decided to establish a central control room at the district level, supported by additional control posts at Rescue 15, the TMA Office, Government Girls High school No. 2, and Police Station Astrezai to facilitate seamless coordination and rapid response.
Deputy Commissioner Nawaz emphasized the importance of inter-sect harmony, religious tolerance, and institutional cooperation to prevent any untoward incidents. Meanwhile, under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) monitoring framework, Assistant Administrative Officer (AAC-1) Muhammad Hamza Mutahir inspected the “Solarization of Existing Tubewell” project in Tehsil Gumbat, reviewing its operational efficiency and directing officials to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. Separately, AAC (Revenue) Ibrahim Khan inspected the Service Delivery Centre in Lachi, reviewed pending cases and revenue matters, and later conducted inspections at Gulshanabad sports Complex to ensure compliance with swimming pool safety SOPs. He also led an operation against illegal cigarettes in board Bazaar, seizing 100 cartons of contraband products, while AAC Gumbat Syed Mukhtiar Shah confiscated 150 packets of unstamped cigarettes during inspections on Pindi Road and initiated legal action against violators. Officials reiterated that strict enforcement and proactive governance measures would continue to safeguard public interests and maintain law and order across the district.
