LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Apr, 2026) The district administration on Monday sealed multiple shops and initiated legal action against violators as part of a citywide enforcement drive aimed at ensuring compliance with energy saving measures under the government’s austerity policy.
According to officials,the operation was carried out on the directives of Deputy Commissioner(DC),Muhammad Ali Ijaz across the provincial capital, with Assistant Commissioners conducting extensive inspections in all tehsils,including Cantt, Shalimar,Ravi,City,Nishtar,Iqbal Town,Wahga and Raiwind.
Surveillance and enforcement actions were also carried out in key localities such as Bedian,Burki,DHA,Walton,Johar Town and Data Ganj Bakhsh to ensure adherence to newly notified SOPs and revised market timings.
During the crackdown,515 inspections were conducted in Cantt, resulting in 15 violations,the sealing of 11 shops,one arrest and fines amounting to Rs30,000.In Shalimar,540 inspections led to 16 violations,13 shop seals and three arrests.
In City tehsil,authorities carried out 500 inspections,where 20 violations were detected and shops were sealed.
In Nishtar, 955 inspections resulted in the sealing of nine outlets.
Similarly,six shops were sealed in Wahga, while in Raiwind three shops and one restaurant were shut over non-compliance.
Officials said that SOP implementation remained fully enforced in areas including Allama Iqbal Road,Dharampura and Johar Town.
DC Muhammad Ali Ijaz directed field officers to ensure immediate action against violations and strict enforcement of market timings and energy conservation measures.
He said that the administration,in coordination with traders’ associations was ensuring compliance across the city,adding that continuous monitoring had improved implementation of the policy.
He maintained that public relief,rule of law and uninterrupted economic activity remain the top priorities.
