LHC dismisses plea against police security for Rajab Butt

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th May, 2026) The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday dismissed a petition challenging the provision of police security to YouTuber and TikToker Rajab Butt during his court appearances.

Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh heard the petition filed by citizen Palwasha Abdul Hadi, while Assistant Advocate General Sattar Sahil submitted a report on behalf of the police.

During the hearing, the law officer informed the court that Rajab Butt is a well-known social media personality facing multiple criminal cases and requires security during court appearances due to security concerns. He clarified that Butt had been provided police security, not official protocol.

Counsel for the petitioner argued that Rajab Butt is facing trial in a sessions court in a rape case and that the petitioner is a witness against him. The lawyer contended that despite being an accused, Butt is being given police protocol at every hearing even though he does not hold any public office or government position.

He maintained that providing police protocol to an accused person in a rape case was unlawful and requested the court to order the withdrawal of the security arrangements.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court dismissed the petition.
