HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2026) Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro organized an important awareness workshop on harassment for its undergraduate students, arranged by the university’s Harassment Committee.

According to the university spokesperson, the initiative reflects LUMHS’s vision of “Safe Spaces, Strong Voices” and its firm commitment to implementing a zero tolerance policy against harassment.

Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ikram Din Ujjan emphasized the significance of such initiatives, stating that providing students with a safe, respectful and dignified educational environment remains the university’s top priority. He said that any form of harassment will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against those involved. He further noted that the university was committed to empowering students so they can raise their voices without fear and safeguard their rights.

He added that awareness programs of this nature play a vital role in helping students identify harassment and understand the legal and institutional mechanisms available to address it.

During the workshop, participants were briefed on various aspects, including understanding harassment, identifying its different kinds, recognizing unsafe and inappropriate behavior, discussing real-life cases, building student confidence and learning proper complaint procedures.

The session was led by the Convener of the Harassment Committee and In-charge of the Department of Surgery Dr. Shahida Khatoon, along with the Chairperson of the Department of Physiology and a committee member Professor Dr. Salma Memon. The speakers highlighted different types of harassment and guided students on effective responses and appropriate legal and institutional reporting channels.
