Meeting discuss measures to maintain peace during Muharram

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Mehsud here Thursday chaired a meeting to review security measures and administrative arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Sanaullah, officials from the Capital Metropolitan Government, Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP), Police, PESCO, Rescue 1122 and other relevant departments. A delegation from the Idara Tabligh-ul-Islam led by Chairman Syed Zahir Ali Shah also participated in the meeting.

The participants discussed comprehensive arrangements for Muharram including foolproof security, uninterrupted electricity supply, sanitation services, traffic management and emergency response preparedness. PESCO was directed to avoid load shedding during religious gatherings while the police were instructed to implement strict security and traffic management plans.

WSSP and municipal authorities were directed to ensure cleanliness, water sprinkling, proper street lighting and other essential facilities at the venues of religious congregations and processions.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner emphasized that all institutions would work in close coordination to ensure peace, protect the lives and property of citizens, uphold respect among all schools of thought and facilitate the peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram.

The delegation appreciated the administration’s timely measures and cooperation expressing gratitude for the efforts being made to ensure peaceful observance of during Muharram.
