Mega heritage revival project accelerated under CM's vision

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) A major heritage restoration initiative aimed at preserving the historical identity of the City of Saints was progressing rapidly under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Nauman Saddique conducted a detailed visit to key development sites including Qila Kohna Qasim Fort, Damdama, Langar Khana and the food Street project, where officials of the Walled City Authority briefed him on the pace of ongoing work.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner directed authorities to further accelerate construction activities while ensuring high standards of quality and timely completion. He emphasized that the upgradation of Qila Kohna Qasim Fort, Damdama and the historic library would help revive Multan’s rich cultural and civilizational heritage.

Muhammad Nauman Saddique stated that the initiatives were designed to provide citizens with improved historical and cultural facilities while also promoting tourism in the region.

According to officials, the Langar Khana project was being completed at a cost of Rs188 million, the historic library at Rs 43 million, the cafe project at Rs 39 million and the Food Street at Rs 129 million.

Additionally, the Walled City Authority will undertake the comprehensive upgradation of the city’s historic fortification wall at an estimated cost of Rs 463 million, marking a significant step toward preserving Multan’s architectural legacy and enhancing its tourism potential.
